News - Tips - Idea and More

When DIYers, Jeff and Nicki, decided to add a dog door to their master bathroom in their single story home, they had no idea this small project would end up in an entire bathroom remodel and a repainting of their master bedroom and guest room.

“We just wanted to give our dogs the ability to come and go as they pleased from our master suite to our yard. The bathroom seemed like the best place to put the dog door, and we had room between the sink and the tub to install the perfect door for our three rescue dogs, Monkey, Juno, and Toby.”

However, when Jeff was deep into installing the dog door, he accidentally broke the lighting fixture in the ceiling which then cut into the linoleum in the bathroom floor.

Upset, but not undaunted, the couple took a look at their outdated bathroom and quickly went to work making plans for a state-of-the-art bathroom remodel.

From Outdated Appliances and Flooring to a Bathroom Fit for Royalty and Three Rescue Cats

Nikki, a sales rep for high-end fixtures as well as bathroom and kitchen products and accessories, chose all the bathroom features. Jeff, a truly handy DIY, installed the tile that would serve as the backdrop to the new sinks, cabinets, and bathtub. They installed lights that illuminated the tile and paint surrounding the stand alone bathtub which is used mostly by their three rescue cats to hide, pounce, and wrestle in.

Benjamin Moore Paint Chantilly Lace OC-65 and Sea Haze 2137-50 Add the Finishing Touch to their Bathroom Remodel

Jeff and Nicki consulted painting experts at Santa Barbara Paint Depot who advised them to go with Benjamin Moore paints. Jeff and Nicki appreciated the ease with which Benjamin Moore wiped clean and would stand up to the dirt and water that sometimes accompanied their pooches when they came in from playing in the water.

Taking advantage of the durability of the paint, the colors that made their tiles, flooring, appliances, and lighting pop, and the reputation of Benjamin Moore Paint, Nicki and Jeff chose to paint the trim with Chantilly Lace OC-65 and paint the interior of the bathroom with Sea Haze 2137-50.

The Master Bedroom and Guestroom Get Makeovers, Too

Like many homeowners doing DIY projects, Jeff and Nicki loved the new look and feel of their bathroom. The beauty of the Benjamin Moore paints and the ease with which they rolled on inspired Jeff and Nicki to refresh their master bedroom and guest room.

The master bedroom is now tastefully detailed with Gray Cashmere 2138-60 in premium eggshell and trimmed with Chantilly Lace OC-65.

The guest bedroom has a fresh coat of Angelica AF-665 in premium eggshell and also trimmed with Chantilly Lace OC-65.

“We wanted a color for our master bedroom that accented our new master bath and a color that matched the accents in our guest bedroom. The professionals at Santa Barbara Paint Depot pointed us in the right direction and also provided us with the supplies necessary to make just one trip to the paint store. We will continue to invest in Benjamin Moore paints and Santa Barbara Paint Depot.”
